Céline Dion – Courage

Céline Dion has one of the most powerful and emotive voices of all singers. I’ve always enjoyed the songs she’s released, but never delved into her albums, until she released her twelfth English-language studio album, “Courage”. The album includes songs written by many of my favourite artists, including, Sia, David Guetta, Sam Smith, Lauv and LP. If you haven’t listened, I highly recommend it. It’s amazing and one of my favourite albums of 2019!

My brother had seen Céline when she had her residency in Vegas and absolutely loved it. So when she announced the “Courage” tour was going to be in Tampa I knew I needed to go. She was phenomenal. Her voice. Her presence. Her spirit and energy. Her humour. I loved everything about the show. Before she started, the woman sitting next to me asked if I was a big fan, to which I answered “I’d say I’m a mild fan”. After the show I have been converted, she is incredible!

The song “Courage” is a piano driven ballad about the loss of a loved one. It is very raw and very emotional. Having lost two very important people in my life last year, this song really struck a chord with me. I shared it with a friend who lost their wife after a long battle with Pulmonary Hypertension, as I thought it might bring him some comfort. He absolutely loved it and has been sharing it with his friends and family, saying it’s his new favorite song. Hearing this brought me so much joy and warmed my heart, because that’s what music does for me. And that’s why I like sharing my music with others, it’s all about connecting and shared experiences.
