Kyle Lionhart is set to unleash his roar!

To be honest, I don’t even know how I came across Byron Bay’s Kyle Lionhart and his music. He’s been releasing tunes since early 2015. At this stage I had left Australia and had been living in the States for 3 months. It’s possible I bumped into him on the streets of Byron Bay or Brisbane where he regularly busked. Regardless, I’ve been a huge fan and have followed his career ever since.

Kyle lists Jeff Buckley, Ben Howard and Bon Iver as influences and has previously toured alongside Niall Horan, Foy Vance and Xavier Rudd. This should give you an indication of his style of music; indie pop with a dashing of folk and soul. His first major release was the “Keep In Mind” EP, which includes one of my all time favourite Kyle Lionhart tracks, “On My Own”.

The same year, Kyle was part of indie rock band, Vernas Keep, who released an EP titled “Bones and Arrows”. As lead vocalist, Kyle’s musical DNA is all over the tracks. With that said, Vernas Keep have somewhat of an elevated sound, lush and gentle melodies gain momentum and soar into energetic full soundscapes. My favourite track from the EP is “Rivalry”.

You can check out more of Vernas Keep here.

In 2017, Kyle was back to his solo stuff and released his follow up EP, “Eleven and Two”. Sticking to his signature sound, it’s an EP full of catchy acoustic tracks that would fit perfectly on the soundtrack to rainy day lounging at a coffee shop. The stand out track for me was “Class Clowns”, a mellow track that sees Kyle teamed up with Burnell. Kyle’s smooth, gentle voice pairing well with Burnell’s hauntingly ethereal vocals.

Kyle is now readying his eagerly awaited debut LP, “Too Young”, which is released September 20. Back with a fuller, richer, more polished and confident sound, Kyle has already dropped four singles. The highlight for me so far has been, “Holding On”.

You can catch Kyle as he embarks on a nationwide tour of Australia and two showcase performances in the States. For details click here.

I have a feeling that 2019 is going to be the breakout year for Kyle Lionhart and his roar will only get louder and brighter in the future.
